Alexander Nevsky was not only an outstanding commander, but also a deeply religious man who cared about strengthening Orthodoxy in the Russian lands. The memory of the holy prince is celebrated on November 23 (December 6, New Style) in the Orthodox Church, as well as on September 12 (September 25, New Style), the day his relics were transferred to St. Petersburg. St. Alexander Nevsky has become a symbol of devotion to faith, courage, and the pursuit of peace.
