The pattern depicts Saint Anna of Kashin, a princess of Tver and the wife of Prince Mikhail of Tver. After the deaths of her husband and sons, she took monastic vows and spent the final years of her life in a monastery. The Church venerates her as an example of patience and faithfulness amid suffering and loss. Icons depict Anna of Kashin as an elderly woman in monastic garments, with her head covered and her hands folded across her chest. Her relics were uncovered in 1649, after which veneration of the saint spread beyond the Tver lands.
The icon of Saint Anna of Kashin is chosen above all for her example of steadfastness in grief and family trials.
The pattern is designed for Czech Preciosa No. 10 seed beads. Exact shade numbers are not specified: the recommended colors and required number of beads for each color are printed below the image.
One gram of size 10 seed beads contains approximately 70–100 beads, depending on the finish and production batch.
