Bead embroidery pattern of icon "Saint Margaret of Antioch"
St. Marina lived in the third century in the city of Antioch (in modern Turkey). She was the daughter of a pagan priest, and her parents planned to marry her off to one of the highest officials of the empire. However, when Marina became a Christian, she renounced all worldly goods and wealth, firmly believing in Christ.
During the persecution of Christians, she was arrested and tried to force her to renounce her faith and worship pagan gods, but she remained steadfast. St. Marina was subjected to brutal torture, and eventually she was martyred. She became a symbol of perseverance in faith and devotion to Christ even in the face of death.
