The Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God is one of the most famous shrines in Ukraine. The icon became famous due to the many miracles that occurred after its appearance. It depicts the Mother of God holding the baby Jesus in her arms. The icon has a special meaning for believers, especially in Pochaiv, where one of its copies is kept. According to legend, the Pochaiv Icon appeared in the 16th century in Pochaiv, in the western Ukrainian lands, in a monastery.

There are several versions of its origin: some claim that the icon was painted by Saint Luke, others that it was painted by another artist. It is known that it miraculously healed the sick and helped in the fight against enemies. The Icon of the Mother of God of Pochaiv is an object of pilgrimage for thousands of believers from different parts of Ukraine and other countries. Its images are often used in temples, iconostases and home icons.
